The Bellaire Public Schools, like so many districts in Michigan, are short when it comes to substitute teachers. Too few people are willing to commit the time and the energy to helping cover classrooms for teachers when they have sick kids at home, personal matters to address, meetings to attend, and so on. This has been an ongoing problem, both in Bellaire and elsewhere, for many years.
I am asking if you or someone you know would be interested in working as a substitute teacher for the Bellaire Public Schools through our provider, WillSub.
Those interested must meet Federal, State and WillSub requirements, which include either a.) a valid teaching certificate or b.) a copy of their official college transcripts reflecting a minimum of 90 earned credit hours on one transcript, obtained from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Further, applicants need some basic experience related to managing a classroom of students or possess the skill set required for this position to ensure learning and position objectives are achieved.
After you complete and submit your online application, WillSub will review your application, required background check, and verification process to ensure compliance with Federal, State and WillSub requirements. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their teaching certificate or college transcripts as well. Once all of these requirements have been met, you'll receive an email notice with instructions on how to log into your new Applitrack account to complete the appropriate new hire, tax and payroll documents.
So, if you are certified to teach in Michigan but are not already working, or if you have at least 90 credits from a four-year college or university, and you are interested in helping support the Bellaire Public Schools as a substitute teacher, please reach out to us at (231) 533-8015 and let us know. We'll work with you to get you signed up and put you to work as soon as possible.
Thanks for reading, and - as always - thanks for your continued support of the Bellaire Public Schools.
Warm Regards,
Mark J. Brenton, Superintendent
